Prof. Karim Benyekhlef appointed holder of the 3IA International Chair of Excellence in AI and Law (Université Côte d'Azur 2025-2027)
The Cyberjustice Laboratory is pleased to announce that its director, Professor Karim Benyekhlef, has been awarded an International Chair of Excellence 3IA- Artificial Intelligence and Law, Université Côte-d'Azur (2025-2027). As part of the Chair's scientific activities, Professor Benyekhlef will work closely with the DL4T research group led by Professor Marina Teller. The work will focus on the development and optimization of conversational agents, such as JusticeBot, to facilitate access to law and justice; methods of regulating AI, in particular through the use of technology to ensure this legal framework; and a reflection on the use of virtual and augmented realities in the field of justice. By combining the theoretical dimensions of legal reasoning with the concrete applications of AI in the legal field, this work should lead to the development of a methodology to ensure the reasonable, useful, transparent, and respectful use of AI in accordance with fundamental rights. The DL4T and Cyberjustice Laboratory teams thus aim to contribute to access to law and justice, the foundation of the rule of law.
